The Bonn-based Federal Office of Bundeswehr Infrastructure, Environmental Protection and Services (BAIUDBwBundesamt für Infrastruktur, Umweltschutz und Dienstleistungen der Bundeswehr) is tasked with the nationwide coordination and central provision of services for the armed forces. To this end, this higher federal authority exercises general administrative and functional supervision of all its subordinate agencies in Germany and abroad. It is organised into an Executive Staff and six directorates and is responsible for all central tasks relating to finances, controlling, infrastructure, services as well as statutory protective tasks (environmental protection, fire prevention, occupational safety and health, hazardous cargo transportation). The subordinate agencies of the BAIUDBwBundesamt für Infrastruktur, Umweltschutz und Dienstleistungen der Bundeswehr include the Bundeswehr Subsistence Office in Oldenburg, the Bundeswehr Firefighting and Fire Protection Centre in Sonthofen, and 42 Bundeswehr Service Centres spread across the country.
Furthermore, the BAIUDBwBundesamt für Infrastruktur, Umweltschutz und Dienstleistungen der Bundeswehr supervises the Federal Republic of Germany Offices of Defence Administration in Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, the United Kingdom, and the U.S.A. and Canada, including their branch offices.

The Centres of Expertise for Construction Management (KompZKompetenzzentrum BauMgmtBaumanagement) are not independent agencies but form part of the Infrastructure Directorate of the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Infrastructure, Environmental Protection and Services. They are located in Düsseldorf, Hanover, Kiel, Munich, Strausberg, Stuttgart and Wiesbaden.They carry out infrastructure measures in their regional area of responsibility, assume the role of the awarding authority vis-à-vis the competent construction authorities of the federal states (“Länder”) and act as a point of contact for the local users. All KompZKompetenzzentrum BauMgmtBaumanagement have the same structure, but their construction projects differ depending on the specific location and region. In addition to the various infrastructure tasks handled, the KompZKompetenzzentrum BauMgmtBaumanagement also ensure the monitoring of statutory protective tasks such as occupational safety and health, fire prevention and environmental protection as well as the contact with public authorities. They are made up of six branches in which both civilian and military personnel work, and an Immediate Action Team (“Team Sofortprogramm”).
