The Air Force Communication and Information Systems Centre (AFCISC) is the Air Force-specific ITInformationstechnik service provider for the units of the German Air Force during routine duty, when standing operational tasks are being carried out and during exercises and operations.

Mission

The Air Force Communication and Information Systems Centre (AFCISC) is the Air Force-specific ITInformationstechnik service provider for the units of the German Air Force during routine duty, when standing operational tasks are being carried out and during exercises and operations. Together with its three communication and information systems sectors (CISCommunication and Information Systems SECT), the AFCISC is directly subordinate to the Communication and Information Systems Support Directorate of the Air Operations Command in KALKAR. The communication and information systems sectors are based in FÜRSTENFELDBRUCK (CISCommunication and Information Systems SECT 1), COLOGNE-WAHN (CISCommunication and Information Systems SECT 2) and KALKAR (CISCommunication and Information Systems SECT 3).

The staff of the AFCISC (COLOGNE-WAHN) comprises about 170 military personnel and civilian personnel. In addition to the typical staff elements, it includes further subunits specialized in ITInformationstechnik (information technology) which, in cooperation with the communication and information systems sectors, provide and ensure the ITInformationstechnik services required during routine duty, when standing operational tasks are being carried out and during exercises and operations.

The AFCISC provides the German Air Force with all services of a modern ITInformationstechnik service provider, ranging from the provision of technical advice to the users in the flying units of the German Air Force and the detailed planning of the network infrastructure and ITInformationstechnik services necessary for the successful conduct of exercises and operations to providing and operating the Air Force-specific ITInformationstechnik systems and mobile headquarters.

An outstanding characteristic of the Air Force Communication and Information Systems Center is its utmost professionalism in the worldwide provision of the required ITInformationstechnik (information technology) services, irrespective of the infrastructure provided, the climatic conditions and the local security situation.
