The Bundeswehr as a Customer
The Bundeswehr is tasked by the Constitution (Grundgesetz) with the duty of providing national and alliance defense. In order to be able to accomplish this mission and the tasks derived therefrom, the armed forces must be provided with the necessary equipment.
The Directorate-General for Armament of the Federal Ministry of Defense is responsible for the planning, management and supervision of national and international armaments activities. It has overall responsibility for the procurement and in-service process in the Bundeswehr.
