In a military ceremony, the Director MMCCMultinational Medical Coordination Centre/EMCEuropean Medical Command, Dr Stefan Kowitz, with profound gratitude honoured the commitment of Lieutenant Colonel, Medical Corps, Dr Maren Kosak with the Silver Cross of Honour of the Bundeswehr, and Lieutenant (Navy) Thomas Makowski and Warrant Officer Stefanie Hippler with the Gold Cross of Honour of the Bundeswehr. According to Dr Kowitz, the three decorated military personnel through their dedicated support and their pragmatic action, in particular during the preparation and the conduct of the war game Resilient Response 2020, contributed to solving many problems already at their onset. They, thus, to greatly facilitated both the conduct of the exercise and the hosting and support of the participants in the exercise at MMCCMultinational Medical Coordination Centre/EMCEuropean Medical Command. "I am very proud and glad about the appreciation of my work," said Lieutenant Colonel Dr Maren Kosak with a smile after the award. She will assume her new position at the Bundeswehr Central Hospital Koblenz before long. Their positive example as diligent and responsible staff members of MMCCMultinational Medical Coordination Centre/EMCEuropean Medical Command meanwhile has become an international flagship of the Bundeswehr.

Badge of Honour awarded to service men and women

The Badge of Honour of the Bundeswehr, which is awarded exclusively by the Federal Minister of Defence, has five grades. The Medal of Honour is awarded for exemplary service and meritorious service over seven months of exemplary achievements. The Bronze Cross of Honour of the Bundeswehr is awarded for exemplary and meritorious service over five years or exemplary achievements. The Cross of Honour of the Bundeswehr is awarded for exemplary and meritorious service or exemplary achievements: the Bronze Cross of Honour after five years, the Silver Cross of Honour after ten, and the Gold Cross of Honour after 20 years of such achievements. In 2008, the Bundeswehr Cross of Honour for Valour and two other special forms came in addition. The Silver Cross of Honour with red edging is awarded for outstanding achievements, in particular outstanding individual valorous acts that did not involve risking life and limb, and the Gold Cross of Honour with red edging for such accomplishments that did mean risking life and limb.
